Slide in (moving forward) front / reverse punch shows a basic development of the front / reverse punch combination. The development of sliding in is to reduce a small distances between you and your target before performing front punch, reverse punch. At a more advanced stage this is done simultaineously.

  • When advancing forward move your front foot 10 to 20 cm immeadiately followed by the back foot moving the same distance.
  • Having moved in you should be in the ready stance with your guard up.
  • When in position let loose your front / reverse punch instantly recovering with your guard up.
  • From this ready position you should be able to move forward again if neccessary whilst keeping your balance, or as in this case retreat.
  • To retreat move your back foot 5 to 10 cm and then bring the front foot back the same amount.
  • Notice that you do not retreat as far as you advance. This is to move just out of range of counter attacks whilst keeping the pressure on an opponent.
  • All techniques should be practiced under the supervision of a qualified instructor.
